The notion of an artistically inclined person being possessed by forces beyond human control is a popular one among apologists for aberrant behavior in everyone from rock singers to painters to rampaging publicists, but nobody ever explains how those devilish impulses got inside in the first place, at least not until The Demon Within (2000). Light-brunette naif Katie Wright stars as a British-born budding artist studying sculpture in San Francisco. Whether she is a genius prodigy or simply an unteachable mess becomes secondary to the efforts of her next-door neighbor, a failed actor and defrocked priest, to impregnate her with the spawn of Satan.
