An abused wife finds an unlikely savior in the taut German thriller Das Miststück (1998). Anna Maron (Iris Berben) realizes that it’s far past time to flee her sadistic husband, but it isn’t until a crash totals her car that Maron finds someone capable of coming to her rescue. The other driver is a crooked gangster with longstanding ties to the mob, but his muscle is just what Anna needs to help make a fresh start. In time the pair even strikes up an amorous affair, with the sexy Berben baring her breasts for the brute of a guardian angel.
