A young writer dreams of penning a best-seller, but when she finally gets the chance, love interrupts in the German romantic comedy Flitterwochen im Treppenhaus (2001). Susanna Simon plays the writer, who’s commissioned to write a lonely-hearts tale based on real experience. No sooner does she take the assignment, however, than she’s introduced to a dashing young bachelor (Steffen Wink) who wins her heart and complicates the completion of her project. It’s a real shame, too, because Simon’s research was going splendidly. Take, for example, her voyeuristic peeping on the effervescent Doreen Jacobi, who has no idea that her boff session is fodder for a book.
