Nobody was in a hurry to release The Turning (1997), the filmed adaptation of the play Home Fires Burning--until, that is, the producers remembered that they had a nude scene with Gillian Anderson, then starring on the hit TV series The X Files. Everyone suddenly got very excited about this tale of Virginia boy Michael Dolan coming home to all kinds of travails. His parents are divorcing, his mother is an alcoholic wreck and Michael himself has plenty of problems to work out. At least he’s able to get some home-cooked nookie from Gillian in her kitchen.
