Polish director Marek Koterski trains his camera on characters caught in the throes of love in Ajlawju (1999), a Polish comedy that translates to I Love You. Koterski is interested in capturing the ways in which lovesick individuals act selfish, foolish, and melodramatic, but never reasonable. Cezary Pazura and Katarzyna Figura star as two such lovebirds who let their hormonal impulses get the best of their common sense. Figura reveals just how easily she can drive a reasonable man insane by shedding her threads, first during an amorous encounter and later during an erotic phone chat.
