Also known as Ga-Ga: Glory to the Heroes, the sly Polish satire Ga, Ga - Chwala bohaterom (1986) skewers the complacency of our media-obsessed society using the framework of a sci-fi adventure. Set in the near future, the film depicts a world where everyday citizens are so numbed by their televisions that no one can be bothered to get up from the couch. Big Brother takes over, however, by rounding up couch potatoes, herding them onto spaceships, and forcing them on missions to colonize the universe. Yes, the premise is a bit otherworldly, but nothing brings viewers back to Earth faster than a glimpse at astro-babe Katarzyna Figura as she sheds her pesky threads.
