Jacek Koprowicz’s eerie supernatural thriller Medium (1985) is set in 1930s Sopot, where four strangers are beckoned to a crumbling villa to brush up against death. The principals in Koprowicz’s film all have hidden reasons for reuniting in the spot where, nearly four decades earlier, a gruesome murder ritual took place. Now, the group is persuaded to reenact the events of that fateful day--a decision that unleashes a hellish onslaught of ghoulishness.
