Director Gianfranco Angelucci folds an erotic fantasy inside a steamy thriller in the Italo-Spanish co-production Honey (1981). Donatella Damiani stars as the landlady of a mysterious hotel where locked doors hold scintillating secrets and sex is merely a knock away. But the landlady doesn’t really exist--she’s merely a character in a romantic manuscript by a writer (Catherine Spaak) who’s not above holding her publisher (Fernando Rey) hostage to make him read it. With multiple layers of eroticism folded together, it’s no surprise that more than one actress in Angelucci’s thriller feels the sparks of passion. Damiani and Parisian beauty Clio Goldsmith go full frontal in this narratively complex but sexually elemental tale.
