Review
The Girl Next Door (2007) is based on the novel of the same name by Jack Ketchum. The disturbing film explores the abuse and torture of a young girl by her guardian and is based on the true story of sixteen-year-old Sylvia Likens. The film is brutal in its portrayal of this sad story, telling it with control and dark artistry. The target of this violent attention is the beautiful brunette Blythe Auffarth, a newbie to nudity but familiar to boob-tube watchers of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where she played Amanda during the 2001 season. Here she’s far more arresting in her brief sexposure. This is a movie that’s hard to watch in more ways than one.
