Putting a Latin spin on classic '80s-era nighttime soaps such as Dallas and Dynasty, Cane chronicles the Cuban-American Duque clan and its multimillion-dollar sugar empire. When patriarch Pancho Duque (Hector Elizondo) readies himself for retirement, clashes arise between upright heir-by-marriage Alex Vega (Jimmy Smits) and adopted scion Frank (Nestor Carbonell) over corporate control. Infighting, backstabbing, double-dealing, extramarital affairs, and all the other beloved staples of primetime intrigue abound, this time set in the blazing Miami sun. Cane's most searing heat, however, comes from starlets such as Christina Chambers, Lina Esco, Alona Tal, and Rome's Polly Walker. Talk about sweet stuff!
