The ghost of a murdered transvestite returns to seek posthumous revenge on her killers in the campy horror thriller The Newlydeads (1987). Joseph Merhi’s film is set at a once-placid summer resort, where the hotel proprietor deals with an unwanted drag-queen guest by having her deep-sixed. The film then fast-forwards fifteen years to the reemergence of the jilted cross-dresser, who gets busy working out her anger on the happy honeymooning couples who’ve retreated to the lakeside idyll. Rebecca Barrington and Roxanna Michaels are two of the smitten brides whose days of passionate shagging are sadly numbered.
