Nothing can bust up a group of guys like one of the dudes announcing that he intends to participate in a wedding, as the groom. The four pals whose friendship and bickering provide the characters studied in The Brothers (2001) are a band of lifelong African American friends who have arrived together into the world of serial yuppie dating. One is a doctor; one is a lawyer; another is a banker. Each of the boon bourgeois buddies is a self-thought legendary ladies’ man, but it is the one known as “the playboy” who shatters the preconceived notions of male bonding by surrendering to matrimony. Will The Brothers survive the threat of middleclass respectability?
