Review

Adapted from the novel by Mervyn Jones, John and Mary (1969) tells the tale of, well, John (Dustin Hoffman) and Mary (Mia Farrow), who meet one night in a New York bar, go home together, and do the featherbed jig. But what comes after the coming's over? Dustin doesn't know--so he pretends not to be into Mia, and, me oh my-a, she leaves him in the dust, wondering just what went wrong. Poor Dustin doesn't even know her name! So he takes to the streets looking for that sweet, sweet piece he just had between his sheets. A light, talky tale of youthful romance in the ’60s, this one might feel a bit out of date, though Mia is always first-rate.
