Summer Phoenix is the nutty daughter in an uptight Jewish Victorian household. As eSTher KaHN (2000) opens, Summer decides that she wants to become an actress. Good choice, but too bad nudie loops are still several decades in the future, because Summer is a seasonally sublime sex object. To become a better actress she dives headfirst into life experiences, including losing her virginity in a scene that finds her burning bush and juggling jugs getting a standing ovation in audiences' pants. On the DVD, Frances Barber provides some extra thrills in a topless and muff-see deleted scene. What's a nice Jewish girl like Esther doing in a movie like this? Getting everybody hot . . . oy vey!
