There have been lots of movies about earnest white teachers working in impoverished inner cities, but few are as affecting as Half Nelson (2006). Ryan Gosling plays a drug-taking history teacher, who despite his handicap manages to inspire his disenfranchised students. It’s a moving story, but even more moving is Monique Curnen, who flashes some shadowy left hooter in bed with the teacher. That’s a hell of a lot better than an apple!
