Based on the hip and seedy French crime novels of Joel Houssin, Dobermann (1997) has bite. Making his directorial debut, the French/Dutch video-maker Jan Kounen delivers a violent world of tough guys and the femmes fatale who love and kill them. The title character is a gang leader whose lover is Monica Bellucci, a deaf-mute gypsy. He's pursued by a sadist cop, which promises a blood-drenched finale. But before that Laura Mañá adds some T&A to make the ultra-violence go down that much easier.
