The fanciful biopic Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) casts ultra-glamorous Nicole Kidman against type as the titular giant of American photography. In real life, Diane Arbus dressed down, avoided the spotlight, and devoted her life to the celebration of those whose appearances embody the opposite of Hollywood gloss. Fur conjures up Arbus's passion in the form of Lionel Sweeney (Robert Downey Jr.), a neighbor whose body is covered head to toe in hair (hence the name Fur), and who inspires '50s housewife Diane to pick up a camera and forever change the art of picture taking. Naked Nicole leads a steady (and heady) succession of non-conformist skin, including Gwendolyn Bucci as a dominatrix and various denizens of a nudist camp. When it comes to on-screen skin, Fur flies.
