The satisfactions of justice served are limited at best and pale in comparison to the soul-deep gratification of exacted revenge. Eye of the Stranger (1993) is a message movie for anyone who is considering using the leverage of elected office to force his will upon the backs of downtrodden common folk. The message is that a moody and incorruptible stranger will one day trudge into town. He will take a look around. He will assess the situation. He will devise a course of action. When his swift and merciless attack is complete, all the crooked ambitions and evil visions of the criminal mayor and his hired thugs will lay bleeding and dying in the settling dust.
