An ex-con seeks revenge against a defense lawyer in Martin Scorcese’s Cape Fear (1991). Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte) was once a public defender in Atlanta, but now he’s retired to a small town and a private practice in North Carolina. 14 years ago Sam represented the psychotic serial rapist Max Cady (Robert DeNiro), and during the trial he kept from his illiterate client a piece of evidence that could have set him free. But Max learned to read in jail, and now that he’s free he’s determined to make Sam pay for withholding the document. So Max tracks down Sam and begins a campaign of terror against him, his wife Leigh (Jessica Lange), their daughter Danielle (Juliette Lewis), and Sam’s coworker/lover Lori (Illeana Douglas).

The violence in Cape Fear can get pretty skintense, but here’s nothing to be nervous about when Illeana gets sexy in a bar with Nick Nolte…not yet, anyway.
