Based on Toni Morrison's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Beloved (1998) features talk queen Oprah Winfrey as an ex-slave raising a teenage daughter in 1873. When her pre-freedom pal Danny Glover comes to town and moves in, Oprah begins to recall some weird memories. When Beloved--played by hottie Thandie Newton (looking not so hot)--shows up, sick and covered in bugs, Oprah's daughter nurses her back to health.
