Business is ruthless, a form of war where a leveraged buyout can lay a town to waste as quickly and thoroughly as a battalion of howitzer guns. A dopey college kid, call him Tommy Boy (1995), returns home after graduation and takes a position as staff screw-up at his daddy’s auto-parts factory. Big Tom’s company is all that stands between the local economy and utter destitution. Unfortunately, the old man kicks off from an unexpected stroke, and his conniving trophy wife sets her sights on liquidating the assets and shipping the jobs to Macau. The hopes and dreams of the dependent populace are doomed to become one more rust-belt sob story, unless Tommy Boy can work a miracle.
