Growing up in public puts an added strain upon an already-stressed situation. Imagine going through the awkward, hormone-charged stages of late puberty while living in the pressure-cooker, privacy-free environment of the White House. Such is the dilemma of the perky and pouty protagonist of First Daughter (2004). For many normal high-school kids, the prospect of going away to college--and more importantly escaping the confines of home and parents--is the only hope that keeps them from turning to drugs and promiscuous sex. Imagine how eager a young woman who has spent her formative make-out years under the unblinking eye of the Secret Service must be to fly the family coop. The comedy takes a dramatic twist when the first daughter’s freshman crush turns out to be a government agent planted by Mom and Dad.
