In a clever take on the hard-boiled genre, The Memory of a Killer (2003) imbues its protagonist with a deteriorating mental disorder. Jan Decleir is an aging hitman who's hit upon something rotten in Belgium. A series of child-prostitute murders appears to be the work of his crime boss. Decleir dedicates himself to righting this wrong--only he's been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and must work against a clock that is ticking away the lucidity of his diseased mind. Before he loses all of his facilities he teams up with platinum blonde Deborah Ostrega, who's full-frontal shower and sex scenes linger on in his memory even after the ravages of illness.
