When a wandering soul has nowhere to go, nowhere to be, but is carried hither and yon deep within a young male prostitute who finds no succor, no respite, no home in all the places and things of this earth, who seeks comforts in the troubling powder of cocaine, then that soul is in danger of being robbed of both destination and destiny. To put this unmoored condition in the terms of modern-day Mexican cinema, with the small dramas and high tragedies spilled out upon the gritty streets of that country’s capitol city, the soul is Sin destino (2002).
