Filmmaker Treva Etienne packs a powerful dose of sex and vengeance into her eight-minute short A Woman Scorned (1999). A brutally effective exercise in wish fulfillment, Etienne’s film stars Marcia Johnson as an unhappily married woman who’s just discovered that her husband’s been cheating on her. Instead of crying into her pillow, Johnson lies in bed at night and concocts deranged schemes for dispatching with her unfaithful lover. Fortunately the jaded heroine’s fantasies turn just as often to sex as murder--in one of the short’s, ahem, hottest scenes, Johnson humps her man with gusto before searing him with a scalding iron.
