When a group of feisty Latina women can’t make headway in love, they unwind with a bit of bitching in the ladies’ room in Baņo de damas (2005), a big-screen adaptation of a popular play by Latin-American playwright Rodolfo Santana. Giovanna Azaldegui, Viviana Gibelli, Lorena Meritano, and Andrea Montenegro play the luckless single dames who experience all manner of highs and lows before retreating to the bathroom for some candid, estrogen-fueled group therapy. Fortunately some good does come out of their retreat--Meritano and Montenegro decide if they can’t find the right men, they might as well settle for some Sapphic pleasure and let viewers revel in their kinky resolution.
