Brazilian teens hang ten and work on getting into each other’s pants in the spicy romantic drama Menino do Rio (1982). Antônio Calmon’s film focuses on a clique of surfers and beach bums whose hormones run wild under the Rio de Janeiro sun. Andre de Biase, Cláudia Magno, and Ricardo Graca Mello are the principles in Calmon’s indulgent ode to teen bodies, hot sand, and a loss of innocence. Both Magno and costar Cláudia Ohana prove game for smoldering outdoor rendezvous, and one needn’t speak Portuguese to understand what these Brazilian beauties are offering.
