A downtrodden streetwalker throws her lot in with a rugged longshoreman in the sultry Brazilian romantic drama Flor do Desejo (1983). Imara Reis stars as Sabrina, a young prostitute who’s weary of making a hand-to-mouth living by being hassled by her johns. After making the acquaintance of Gato (Caíque Ferreira), Sabrina decides to throw in with the dockworker and assist him with the various schemes he hatches in Santos harbor. Reis’s change of occupation puts her into contact with a brand new set of unsavory characters––muggers, drunkards, and hustlers––but that doesn’t keep her from shedding her threads to get what she wants.
