A pair of professional sleuths ends up on the wrong end of the gun barrel in Oscar Castillo’s irreverent Costa Rican crime comedy Murder at El Meneo (2001). The protagonists are a cop team assigned to solve a baffling murder. As they begin trawling for suspects, they find that an unusual number of drop-dead-gorgeous dames are throwing themselves at them. Is it merely good luck or are these babes trying to make the cops, well, drop dead? With a cast that includes Marilyn Gamboa, Metzi Hovenga, and Marcela Ugalde, it might just be worth it to find out.
