Weary of her humdrum home life, a young housewife decides to cut loose at her sister’s erotic hideaway in the smutty arthouse drama Le Sorelle (1969). Susan Strasberg stars as Marta, an adventurous young woman who feels hemmed in by life with her staid husband. Hungry for new life experiences, the heroine agrees to move in with her feisty, sexually liberated sister, who shows her the ins and outs of the Sapphic pleasure palace where she spends her winters. Sixties European art cinema doesn’t get a whole lot hotter than Robert Malenotti’s French-Italian co-production, which captures Strasberg and costar Nathalie Delon in copious scenes of girl-on-girl coupling.
