Talk about truth in advertising, Blaze Starr Goes Nudist (1960) is not only the title of this very titillating film, it’s also a succinct summary of the plot. Blaze, you may recall, is the infamously top-heavy titty dancer whose affair with Huey Long made him true to his family name but also lost him the governorship of Louisiana. It was worth it to grab hold of Blaze’s scorching-hot funbags, which fill up the screen in vivid color in this film. This classic exploitation flick directed by Doris Wishman follows Blaze as she runs away from autograph hounds, escaping into a theater playing a nudist film. The living looks sleazy, so she joins up, and viewers are teated to her swimming naked, engaging in chess with all her pieces exposed, and playing archery in the buff, which will sharpen audience’s arrowheads.
