My father forbade me from watching this show, decrying it as ‘mind-numbing’ and ‘too stupid for words’. Strangely enough, I still know enough about the series to recall it all these years later. (Sorry, Dad!) Never a show accused of highbrow intellect or well-crafted comedy, The Dukes of Hazzard was simply about two cowboys who loved to A) drive fast, and B) irrtate the porcine Boss T. Hogg. Rare is this sort of inanity without any sort of laugh track, and the series stands as a testament to how ridiculous a popular show can be – yet many still have fond memories of the non-stop car chases…and the amazingly curvaceous presence of Catherine Bach in her eponymous Daisy Duke short shorts. Those alone make the syndication repeats worth a visit.
