It can be a tough life, even if you are a gorgeous, physically blessed, enchanting young female specimen, particularly if you are a sweet, sensual fille in a brooding, moody French film. The heroine of The Disenchanted (1991) is a mere schoolgirl, living with her kid brother and her bed-ridden, disabled mother. These should be the happiest years of the blossoming lass’s life, but circumstances have decided otherwise. First, her boyfriend and she can no longer see eye to eye and go their separate ways. Then the mature gentleman who regularly visits mother and leaves cash is taking a pointed interest in the enchanting charms of the fair daughter, and she is encouraged to reciprocate his interest. Will the family, fragile as it is, survive the assault on its propriety?
