Frequently referred to as Emanuelle and Joanna, Franco Rossetti’s sassy Italian sex drama Il Mondo porno di due sorelle (1978) relates the struggles of a demure housewife to escape her husband’s savagery. Thinking that she’s merely married the wrong man, Emanuela (Sherry Buchanan) gives an extramarital affair a whirl, only to discover that she’s the victim of abuse at a new man’s hands. Distraught, she consults with her sister (Paola Montenero), a brothel proprietress who teaches her some tricks for striking back in the sack. Buchanan and Montenero are immediate rivals for skin sharing, but don’t count out co-star Marina Hedman, who works her mojo when the sisters shimmy off camera.
