A family’s dark secrets are uncovered over the course of a single night in the probing psychological drama Le temps perdu (2001). The film, a French television production, is set on the eve of a wedding between Mélanie (Nade Dieu), the daughter of a wealthy newspaper magnate, and Max (Bruno Todeschini), a cartoonist for said publication. As the lovers sit down for a lavish dinner with Mélanie’s parents, they’re treated to an unexpected visit from Max’s long-lost father, who urges his son to rethink his marriage plans. Keeping Max away from a honeymoon with his scintillating bride is, however, an uphill battle--Dieu shows why she’s such an irresistible catch in a bedroom scene with Todeschini. Fans of French arthouse sensation Emmanuelle Devos will want to pay attention to her supporting role here; the sumptuous screen veteran reveals all during a particularly steamy shower scene.
