Michael J. Fox makes a beeline for the top rung of the corporate ladder in the Golden Globe nominated rags-to-riches comedy The Secret of My Succe$s (1987). A true-blue cultural product of the Gordon Gecko ’80s, Herbert Ross’s comedy stars Fox as a Kansas-bred suit who’s too impatient to wait for his hard-earned windfall. After landing a job in the mailroom of a large New York company, the hero finds an abandoned office, concocts a fake identity, and begins maneuvering in his newly invented role of high-powered executive. Before long, Fox’s character is nestled in the lap of luxury, replete with Jacuzzis, penthouses, and women––many, many women. Margaret Whitton proves the sexiest draw as she cavorts in and out of her teeny bikini.
