Don’t waste your pity on the persecuted Italian immigrant lad. Modern-day Romans land upon the Australian shores only to find that they have gone halfway around the globe to be greeted with ethnic intolerance and outright disrespect. The Aussie Park Boyz (2005) in this passionate project from producer/director/lead actor Nunzio La Bianca respond with a tenacity and ferocity that should be no surprise to any fan of Mean Streets (1973). Unfortunately gangs formed in the cause of protection soon veer toward criminal enterprise, resulting in extended incarceration, which sets into motion cycles of violence, revenge, rape, and further violent revenge. The whole world spins upside down Down Under.
