A scorned librarian and a cynical bed hopper seem like the last couple in the world to end up in a long-term relationship, but that’s exactly what happens in the spicy Italian romance Quando una donna non dorme (2000). Francesca Schiavo plays Sara, a woman who swears off love after a bad break-up, retreating to lick her wounds in solitude. Vincenzo Peluso’s Bruno is a sex-starved cynic looking for a hookup with no strings attached. Although both parties are hoping to avoid a relationship, that’s exactly what they fall into in Nino Bizzarri’s sly erotic comedy. As Peluso learns, Schiavo’s worth coming back to for second and third helpings--the sultry actress is ravishing in her smoldering, scantily clad sex scenes.
