One of the most notoriously bizarre films of the 1990s, A Chinese Torture Chamber Story (1995) balances its portrayal of sadistically inventive punishments with hilarious softcore gymnastics. The complicated and largely dispensable plot follows a woman named Little Cabbage (Yvonne Yung Hung), who’s tortured into owning up to an adulterous affair she never had. Along the way viewers are introduced to a visceral blend of Grand Guignol gore (castration and torture racks) and titillating follies, including naked turns by Hung, Julie Lee, Ching Mai, and King-Tan Yuen.
