An escaped convict gets confused with a tabloid reporter who messed with the mob in the zany Tarantino-indebted crime caper Who Is Cletis Tout? (2001). After attempting to blackmail a mob don with video footage of a cold-blooded murder, the real-life Cletis Tout gets deep-sixed by a couple of toughs. When Trevor Finch (Christian Slater) escapes jail, however, he’s seen to bare such a striking resemblance to the executed reporter that mob heavies wonder if they haven’t done the job right. A hitman (Tim Allen) is quickly dispatched to dispense of the con, who finds himself running from the law and the lawless alike. Finch would probably be better off behind bars, though that would mean he’d have to kiss women goodbye for good. Even from her morgue slab, Corinne Jenner boasts the kind of body that makes Finch’s decision a difficult one.
