A happily married television news anchor is thrown for a loop when a mysterious image appears on his computer screen in the German thriller Eine öffentliche Affäre (2001). Michael Mölders (Christian Quadflieg) is able to ignore the mysterious letters he’s received, but when the picture of an ex-flame pops up on his screen, accompanied by the message “Murderer! Do you remember?” he has ample reason to freak. Director Rolf Schübel nicely captures Mölders’s desperate confusion, while Stephanie Scholz is plenty memorable as the enigmatic ex-girlfriend whose pert knockers help to clear up any and all confusion.
