Scientists can be such fools. Oh, it’s not the brainy boys’ faults that they are just so enthused about unlocking the secrets of the universe that they cannot restrain themselves from putting the very future of human existence at risk. Is this failing simple, inadvertently harmful curiosity, or does the fatal flaw of rampant researchers flow from some Deep Evil (2004)? When a creepy virus flies in from outer space and lands in the frozen tundra of Siberia, apparently fading there dormant and causing no harm to anyone, the wise move would seem to be, let’s leave well enough alone. But that course of prudent inaction fails to take into account the unquenchable thirst for pure knowledge. Plus, if the scourge of eternity were not threatened to be let loose upon an innocent world, Deep Evil wouldn’t have much cause to exist as a movie.
