Two couples with children wrestle with weighty issues of love and fidelity in Yvan Attal’s insightful drama Happily Ever After (2004). Vincent and Gabrielle have an outwardly perfect marriage, though Vincent is leading a double life, and Georges and Nathalie argue incessantly, forcing Georges into an unwanted infidelity. Floating on the edges is Fred, a womanizer, but a man who is also strongly attracted to the married state. Powerful performances all around make for interesting viewing matter. We get a lovely, long look at Charlotte Gainsbourg’s shapely rump and darling side boob as she does the cowgirl routine for her grateful man.
