This drama series might not have the big name presence of a network show, being as it ran exclusively on the Lifetime channel, but after four seasons on the tube, very few series’ could claim to be as prolific as this one. Cramming four 22-episode seasons into four years of production is no mean feat, and the gals that dig Lifetime sure were huffy when it was canned. Mary Elizabeth (Annie Potts) is an outgoing white girl who becomes close friends with Rene (Lorraine Toussaint), a shy black girl, in 1960's Alabama. When Mary Elizabeth becomes knocked up and Rene thinks she should have it taken care of, the friendship disintegrates, but thirty years later they reunite and resume their old friendship, talking over old times for our amusement. Now, if we could just convince them to experiment a little…
