And Mother Makes Five

Back in 1971, Thames TV in the UK churned out three seasons of the hit sitcom And Mother Makes Three, about a young widow (Wendy Craig) trying to get by after the death of her husband left her the sole guardian of two sons. When she finally found romance and got married, the old title no longer applied, since there was a new husband (Richard Coleman) and daughter (Maxine Gordon) to add to the total. Thus we have And Mother Makes Five. Must have been just what the doctor ordered, because the show went for a total of six seasons before finally calling an end to mother and her number making. Diana Darvey made a brief appearance on the show, having found some spare time between episodes of her staple gig, as one of the curvy wenches on The Benny Hill Show.
