Amor en silencio

Love in Silence was one of those soap operas that came out of Spain and was so well received and so watched that the makers couldn’t be content with one good run – they had to remake it again and again. Amor en silencio was first run in 1989 when it won the prestigious TVyNovelas award for best telenovela of the year. It took a full decade before anyone reworked the idea, but when it happened once (with Háblame de amor in 1999), it happened again within three years (Te amaré en silencio in 2002). Surely there have to be more stories of love, deceit, sex, and nudity that can be drawn from so that the same old stories don’t have to be rehashed over and over again? This one starred the skinful talents of Claudia Guzman, along with the much less skin-happy names of Erika Buenfil, Arturo Peniche, José Elías Moreno, and Joaquín Cordero, but it’s Guzman that will get the blood boiling.
