At Least When It Comes One Part... No Pun Intended

When it comes to turning books into movies or television shows you have to be ready for some changes. Of course, if you are a lover of the novel, sometimes those changes can be hard to deal with. For those who love the Neil Gaiman book American Gods and were worried about the introduction of the character Bilquis, you need not worry because they are staying true to the book.

I’m sure there are some scratching their heads because they’ve never read American Gods and I was right there with you, but after hearing what happens I’m kind of interested in picking up a copy from my local library.

For non-book readers, here's a clue to why Neil Gaiman fans were concerned about Bilquis' introduction. The first "American Gods" chapter that features the goddess eating a man through her, er, lower set of lips. Some believe that the scene is "unfilmable" because, well, nobody likes the idea of being swallowed whole by a woman that way.

Yes, Bilquis (played by Yetide Badaki) the goddess of love in American Gods will eat someone with her vagina. Now, the real question is how much we are going to see. Showrunner Bryan Fuller has noted that there will be plenty of male nudity (including digital boners), but as far as the goddesses of the show, that still remains up in the air. Hopefully we will hear something before the show premieres on STARZ in 2017. Though it does appear that American Gods is going to have a pilot that no one will ever forget.
