Here’s something about Nancy Travis. She’s not the bimbo-esque hottie that we’ve come to know and be bored of on network TV, nor is she a MILF, nor is she the ‘wacky personality sidekick’ that Joan Cusack’s always stuck being. She’s just a good chick that you’d date, maybe even for a while and never complain about how she looked. So when it came to Almost Perfect, there was a lot to like from the outset, with Travis getting the romantic lead alongside Kevin Kliner. The story followed Travis as she went about her newly won position of executive producer of a police drama, "Blue Justice", trying to handle the fragile egos of the actors while dealing with an all-male, all-weird writing staff. Of course there’s the requisite romantic dilemma, as her hard-working DA boyfriend doesn’t get enough time with her, but for the most part this sitcom steered clear of being ‘just another sit-rom-com’ with smart scripts, good performances, and just enough mushy stuff to keep grandma from falling asleep. But in a bid to spice up the second season, producers cut Kliner out of the show, and within six episodes the carpet was pulled out from under the whole thing. The remaining episodes of the second season have been shown on Lifetime but it’s a shame that a quality show was dumped as soon as ratings dipped, while classless brain hemorrhages like Family Matters and Full House are left to go on for an eternity.
