Aliens in America (2007)

A whitebread Wisconsin mom who's opened her home to an exchange student is shocked to see that their new houseguest isn't who she thought he'd be in Aliens in America. The whole plan was to get her awkward son Dan Byrd a friend who'd coax him out of his shell—but when Pakistani Muslim Adhir Kalyan shows up instead of the strapping Nordic lad mom had imagined, the family's plans go all to hell. But Dan and Adhir develop a bond, realizing that it's not so bad to be outsiders when they can be outsiders together.
