Review

Also known as There’s Nothing To Worry About!, this anarchic UK sketch comedy show was written and performed by some of the, at the time, best new alternative comedy acts in Britain. Of course, names like Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson, Siobhan Redmond, Ben Elton, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie would eventually become household staples, along with Rik Mayall, Ade Edmondson, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Rowan Atkinson, Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones. When you consider that all of that talent came out of British TV within a five-year stretch, it’s no wonder the Brits scoff at what Americans call TV comedy. Our skin spotlight in this case goes to Emma Thompson, who has bared her breasts for many a camera over the years, though always in the interests of furthering a good story. And lest ye think of her as merely a Merchant/Ivory kind of gal, take into account that she not only appeared in plenty of sketch comedy around this time, she was also one of the writers on this show. Not just a gorgeous face…
